FlexNet Manager Platform integrates with many other IT systems to collect the data necessary for next generation software asset management. This includes out-of-the-box connectivity to Microsoft SCCM, as well as connectors for other third party inventory and configuration management tools. Enterprise License Management for IBM

FlexNet Manager for IBM supports a number of different IBM license models (Processor Value Unit (PVU), User Value Unit (UVU), Resource Value Unit (RVU), Authorized User, Concurrent User and Floating User). FlexNet Manager Platform can use the IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) as an inventory source to provide information on hardware allocations to virtual machines and hardware partitions, as well as detailed sub-capacity consumption figures for PVU-based licenses. IBM customers generally must use the ILMT when installing products in virtual environments where subcapacity licensing is being used. FlexNet Manager for IBM can be used to manage both full capacity and subcapacity licensing. The ILMT inventory data is imported into the FlexNet Manager Platform repository. From there it can be correlated with purchase orders and contracts enabling a purchased versus installed license reconciliation to be performed. FlexNet Manager for IBM reports license compliance and over licensed situations for IBM software. The FlexNet Manager for IBM Product Use Rights Library (PURL) automates the process of applying IBM license entitlements to optimize your license position.

Independent Subcapacity Calculation

FlexNet Manager for IBM is able to calculate PVU license consumption in subcapacity (i.e. virtual) environments. This feature provides a calculation that is independent of the IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT), but may be used in conjunction with ILMT data. A report is provided comparing side-by-side calculation results between FlexNet Manager for IBM and ILMT.

'What If' Analysis

An industry first simulation capability has been added to the FlexNet Manager Platform for the IBM PVU license model, allowing FlexNet Manager for IBM customers to understand the licensing implications of a change to their IT environment. Actions such as modifying hardware properties, moving virtual machines across hosts or installation of a new software title can be simulated, providing an estimated license position that reflects these changes. This 'What If' analysis capability allows organizations to proactively maintain IBM license compliance and understand the cost impact of changes before they are made.
