Standards Requirements: Discovery and Definition

During this stage, Professional Services will help you determine and define the requirements for package standards for your organization. Information will be assembled into a set of requirements by:

• Reviewing existing documents and processes
• Reviewing current application lists, assessing priorities, and developing a proposed solution
• Defining templates, typical packages, requests, and standards
• Understanding network and remote site implications

Processes and Standards: Design, Implementation, and Documentation
 
Professional Services will develop final processes and standards based on requirements gathered during the discovery and definition process. The recommended processes and standards will be documented and reviewed with you. Services for this stage include:

• Compiling similarities and differences between requirements for application packages
• Determining core set of standards and extensions that must be applied for installation in various environments across your organization
• Completion of a detailed application specification for moving your packaging environment to a structured MSI approach, including information such as:
  
  • Packaging environments, templates and types 
  • Procedures for entire packaging procedure—from application management to testing and conflict resolution 
  • Roles and responsibilities 
  • Guidelines for merge modules and shared files
