Software License Reconciliation and Optimization Service

The Software License Reconciliation and Optimization Service uses a combination of FlexNet Manager Suite product content and onsite services to provide you with a full software licensing solution for an agreed set of vendors, including: Microsoft, Adobe, VMware, Citrix and Oracle Databases.

For a given vendor, full software license reconciliation will be carried out, resulting in the creation of an actual license position. An actual software license position forms a vendor baseline position giving an accurate understanding of the software license compliance status after taking in to consideration software license entitlements, liabilities and product use rights for installed software. It will also offer recommendations around software usage (where available).

The service will be carried out as follows:

• Purchase Order data (where applicable) will be verified and checked and normalized to ensure clean entitlement data is flowing into the system
• If SKU information exists within the Purchase Order data, SKU's will be verified against the FlexNet Manager Suite SKU library and licenses will be created
• Product use rights will be incorporated into the creation of software licenses in order to show a license consumption position
• Any product bundles or suites will be created and mapped into the system
• Relevant upgrades will be applied in order to demonstrate full current entitlement
• The consultant will produce an actual license position that will identify the compliancy of each product. This report will show the purchases of each product against the base level install count, and also the final license consumption count

The Reconciliation and Optimization Service will facilitate the reduction of corporate risk and identify both cost saving and cost avoidance opportunities. By having a complete picture of the software license position of the organization, the customer will be able to identify where over-licensing may exist and adopt changes accordingly. The customer will be able to identify re-harvesting or re-cycling opportunities, and optimize license counts by taking full advantage of entitlements and product use rights. For example, we will identify areas where portable use, multiple use and virtual rights can be invoked to reduce consumption and thus cut cost to the organization. The service will also ensure an optimized approach to software license allocation meaning the least number of licenses are consumed at any point given the software installs in place. As a result of the service, you will have a more accurate view of your software license position, will achieve greater efficiency around license purchasing decisions, and be fully prepared for any vendor audit or true-up.
