InstallShield MultiPlatform End-of-Life Notice

Effective August 29, 2006 with the release of InstallAnywhere 8, Flexera Software is announcing plans for future support for InstallShield MultiPlatform as we work to transition our customers to the next generation of multiplatform installation products.

Milestone	After this date...
Last Product Release 11/05 (ISMP 11.5)	… no major product releases will be made … no enhancements will be made other than service releases or    "hot fixes"
Withdrawal From Market 8/29/06	… the product is only licensed to customers who already have    licenses … the product will be removed from reseller / indirect distribution    channels … active marketing stops … the effective date of this is the same date that InstallAnywhere    8 becomes GA
Last Customer Ship 6/30/07	… no new licenses are sold, even to existing customers … new support and maintenance contracts can no longer be purchased … per-incident support will no longer be available … training courses can no longer be purchased … documentation and all subsequent service releases are only    available electronically
End Of Maintenance 12/31/08	… no further service releases will be made … "hot fixes" will be supplied only if required under maintenance    contract
End Of Service Life 6/30/09	… no further "hot fixes" will be available … all product support ceases … the product is no longer sold, maintained, or supported in any    way

For Customers with Active InstallShield MultiPlatform Maintenance Plans:

Effective immediately, InstallShield MultiPlatform (ISMP) customers with active maintenance plans are entitled to receive the current version of InstallAnywhere at no additional cost through the current maintenance fulfillment process.

• InstallShield MultiPlatform Professional Edition maintenance plan holders are entitled to receive InstallAnywhere Standard Edition.
• InstallShield MultiPlatform Premier Edition maintenance plan holders are entitled to receive InstallAnywhere Enterprise Edition.

InstallShield MultiPlatform customers electing to receive InstallAnywhere as part of their maintenance plan will have their InstallShield MultiPlatform licenses marked as "upgraded," and will no longer be able to get support or upgrades for InstallShield MultiPlatform. In effect, these customers will be "turning in" their InstallShield MultiPlatform licenses when they upgrade and will now be InstallAnywhere customers.

The end-date of their current maintenance plan will remain the same, but will now cover InstallAnywhere instead. Upon the expiration of their existing maintenance agreement, users who renew will do so at InstallAnywhere maintenance-plan prices.

Customers with an active InstallShield MultiPlatform maintenance plan wishing to receive this upgrade are advised to contact their Flexera Software sales representative and request it.

An InstallShield MultiPlatform customer without an active maintenance plan who wishes to upgrade to InstallAnywhere may do so by purchasing a new license of InstallAnywhere.

Has Flexera Software ceased all development on ISMP?

No. We are planning service releases and compatibility with new Java, OS and hardware platforms. However, we are not at this time planning new functional capabilities. Please check the InstallShield MultiPlatform pages on the Flexera Software Support Website for service updates.

Will existing ISMP users be able to buy additional licenses of ISMP once the product has been withdrawn from market?

Note the "last customer ship" date has passed, so no new licenses of ISMP are available.

No. Existing InstallShield MultiPlatform customers could only do this up until June 30, 2007.

Yes. Flexera Software will, at its discretion and as needed, release service releases and "hot fixes" through the "End of Maintenance" date.

What is Flexera Software doing to help me migrate from ISMP to InstallAnywhere?

Flexera Software provides capabilities in InstallAnywhere 2009 that will facilitate the migration of certain project components from ISMP to InstallAnywhere, including new support in InstallAnywhere for the ISMP services layer. These migration capabilities are documented in the InstallAnywhere 2009 product and on the Flexera Software support site.

Can I upgrade my ISMP license to InstallAnywhere?

For customers on ISMP active maintenance, an attractive upgrade price is available for InstallAnywhere. Flexera Software offers a new InstallAnywhere license price to ISMP customers who do not have an active maintenance plan so you can migrate your existing copy of ISMP to InstallAnywhere.

I've got a lot invested in my ISMP installations. Do I need to start migrating them immediately?

For your existing products that use ISMP for their installation, there is no urgent need to change them overnight to InstallAnywhere. For new projects, we recommend you begin to use InstallAnywhere.

No. InstallAnywhere Standard is the same price as ISMP Professional, and InstallAnywhere Enterprise is the same price as ISMP Premier.

What versions of InstallShield MultiPlatform can I migrate to InstallAnywhere 2009?

The migration tools provided with InstallAnywhere 2009 are designed to work with InstallShield MultiPlatform 11.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Users on previous versions of InstallShield MultiPlatform must upgrade their installations to this release to take advantage of them.

Can I continue active development in InstallShield MultiPlatform once I upgrade my license to InstallAnywhere?

Customers who upgrade their InstallShield MultiPlatform licenses to InstallAnywhere 2009 can receive migration assistance, but under the terms of the End User License Agreement are considered InstallAnywhere users after the upgrade. If you need to continue active development in InstallShield MultiPlatform but also want to begin work with InstallAnywhere 2009, you should purchase a separate license and support plan for InstallAnywhere 2009.
